Contact Breakers
Contact breakers are electrical contacts that open and close a circuit in a regular sequence and are designed in different designs depending on the application. They represent a special design of electrical switches.
Contact break points are set to 0.35 to 0.4 mm with a feeler gauge. The setting is important so that the closing times are correct, as incorrect closing times lead to weak ignition sparks. If the distance cannot be adjusted, the base plate may be bent.
Without ignition contacts there is no ignition spark
The ignition contacts are a very important part of the ignition system, which must be replaced from time to time before the ignition system fails completely. The ignition contacts are actuated by the rotational movement of the crankshaft.
An important part for igniting the circuit breaker - the capacitor.
The capacitor minimizes wear on the ignition contacts, is connected in parallel with the circuit breaker and protects the contact surface from wear. In addition to the breakpoints, a capacitor must also be replaced regularly to prevent damage.
In addition to components from well-known brands such as Yamaha, Gilera, Derbi and Piaggio, EasyParts also has alternative parts from RMS and TNT in stock. You will find capacitors in our shop, especially for older scooter models such as Piaggio Ciao, Bravo or Si, such as the Piaggio Ciao/ Bravo/ Si/ Citta capacitor from RMS.
Not sure if the ignition breaker you have chosen will fit your vehicle?
If you are not sure which ignition switch fits your vehicle, simply enter your make, model and type of scooter in the search filter to find the right item.
